Sharpening
$25 per pair
One price for hair shears and pet grooming shears. No mail-in fee, and nothing is charged on this page.
$25 per pair for sharpening. Engraving is quoted when Sloan sees the shear.
How it’s done
Five steps on the bench.
Sloan brings the work to your shop and sharpens on a Twice as Sharp system — the machine pros use for beauty, barber, and grooming shears. Here’s what happens to each pair.

Inspect and clean
Each pair gets a look before it touches a wheel. Sloan wipes it down and checks the edge, the pivot, and how the blades ride.

Set the angle
On the Twice as Sharp machine, he sets the angle that shear was built for. Beauty, barber, and grooming steel don’t all sit the same way.
- 3
Grind the cutting edge
A diamond wheel takes a controlled pass and puts a clean edge back on the blade, without chewing up salon steel.

Finish the inside line
Convex and beauty shears also need a smooth inside ride. An Ookami kit hones and deburrs that line so the blades glide instead of drag.
- 5
Test the cut and tension
He checks that the shear cuts clean and the pivot tension feels right, then the pair goes back to you.
